Hold Your Horses

Horse Guards Parade
From: Hull, United Kingdom

Horse Guards Parade
Horse Guards Parade formed about 2 years ago came together round about the summer of 2008 when James Waudby formerly of electro poppers Salako and friend Jason Heslewood got together and holed themselves up in the attic to record some tunes. Unlike Waudy's former band there is nothing electro or even pop about Horse Guards Parade. It's haunting, semi psychedelic anti folk with a particularly English twist.

This City Is On Fire recalls the elegaic beauty of The Blue Nile. The brilliantly titled Her Scabby Knees with it's haunting, ghostly echoes starts out with an ambition to become the 21st centuries 'Ghost Town' before turning into a lilting, downbeat psych folk ode to the owner of the local abattoir. 'Everybody's Going Back To Your House' and 'As The Plane Lifted It's Wheels' sound like the sort of tracks the Beatles would have knocked off in their spare time in the mid 60s. Yes trust me they're that good. All these tracks are available from the band's self titled EP released last year.

Horse Guards Parade will be the name to drop in 2011 so get ahead of the herd and check them out now.
