On their new mini album, out in the US on 20th October, Athens popsters Spring Tigers (not to be confused with their Athens feline brothers Twin Tigers, Wolves are clearly so last year darlink) sound like a band feeling around in the dark for an audience. It's an messy mix of the styles that makes for an uncomfortable listen. They can't decide whether they want to appeal to the tweenies (Just Suggesting), the skinny jeaned new wavers (New Improved Formula) or the laid back modern hippies (Stripmalls In The Sun) and therefore have decided to be all things to all men and therefore likely to appeal to none.

New Improved Formula is a catchy piece of power pop which brings back fond memories from the Devil's youth watching UK one hot wonders The Headboys (The Shape Of Things To Come) and The Jags (Back Of My Hand) on Top of the Pops. Unfortunately the irritating Just Suggesting sounds like something Mika rejected as a little too cheesy and 'Stripmalls In The Sun' is little more than a painting by numbers version of The Flaming Lips.

Make a decision guys, my advice would be build on the promise of New Improved Formula, and I'm sure you'll be grrreat, as your namesake Tony might say.
