The Grizzly OwlsThe Grizzly Owls
Genre: Other / Other / Other
From: Bakersfield California, United States

The Grizzly Owls (first featured on the Devil's blog back in December 2007, Life's A Hoot With... and again back in December 2008 Flying Back It's) are back with a new EP, 'I Am A Shootist'. They've been on the Devil's blog so often I'm thinking of charging them rent! Only joking I love this band so much that I'd consider (only consider mind you given I'm a Devil of limited financial means) paying them to be on the site !

The new EP doesn't represent a great departure from the previous releases by the Grizzly Owls but why mess with a formula when it's this good.
Lead track 'I Am A Shootist' is a lo-fi 'Theme From High Chapparal' reinterpreted by a superannuated Kate Bush at her least theatrical while 'Save My Soul, Conquistador' is a David Lynch Spaghetti Western musical crammed into a mere 2 minutes 39. The other two tracks are in a similar vein with Joseph twanging away like a low budget Morricone and Jenny warbling away like the wayward step sister of Liz Frazer and Natalie Merchant.
