Screaming LightsGenre: Alternative / Rock / Experimental
From: Liverpool, United Kingdom
With a lead singer who looks like the love child of a menage a trois between Julian Cope, Johnny Borrell and Johnny Depp and a sound that's best described as Interpol fighting the Killers in Chris Martin's front room the future's bright for Liverpools Screaming Lights.
The bands best track 'Phenomena' is for those who haven't bought a Killers album since 'Hot Fuss' and is an indie classic in the making. Latest single 'GMN' starts off like a pongey slice of cheesy euro disco but don't switch off as about 1 minute 30 seconds in it morphs into Interpol on speed! 'Air in a Lung' is an ephemeral piece of laid back piano driven piece of sub Coldplay meanderings while 'Grandfather Clock' is the point at which Interpol and Keane meet which is probably quite a lonely place to live.
If Screaming Lights can build on the phenomenal (sorry couldn't resist) 'Phenomena' and stop themselves occasionally lapsing into bland daytime Radio 1 AOR territory then they could be massive.
There a review about a band from Liverpool without one mention of the Beatles (doh!).
