Searching For The New Soul Rebels

This Is Seb ClarkeThis Is Seb Clarke
Genre: Indie / Punk / Soul
From: Stoke-On-Trent, United Kingdom

Before the UK music scene was infected by the X Factor virus, before the assembly line was switched to the 'indetikit tousled haired mock indie' setting, before image became more important than substance the British music scene was awash with, often eccentric, outsiders who challenged the status quo. Young soul rebels like Dexys Midnight Runners, The Pogues, The Jam, The Style Council, The Specials, The Clash. Bands that effortlessly blended the anger and energy of punk with everything from ska to soul, from mod to traditional Irish folk, from reggae to garage.

With more passion than an Obama rally and more energy than a Duracell bunny on red bull Stoke-On-Trent's This Is Seb Clarke are resurrecting that spirit with their brassy mix of soul and punk energy that's reminiscent of a less overtly political Redskins or an angrier, and somewhat cooler, Q-Tips. Their last single, the tumultuous 'Rock 'n' Roll Alamo - pt 7', is Alan Parker's Commitments in single form.

This is Seb Clarke are the new soul rebels. The Northern Soul revival starts here.
