Let's Get Drunk And Have...
The Pity Party
Genre: Alternative / Experimental / Rock
From: Los Angeles, California United States
Devil's favourite avant electro rockers The Pity Party have a new EP out, 'Hotwork' featuring the duos innovative Ronald Dzerigan design.
The new EP is a curious blend of their previous two EPs with tracks like 'Houses On The Sun' an electro punk attack close in spirit to the bands first EP while on the more minimalist 'Bottom of the Hole' Heisenflei does her best chanteuse over possibly the most atonal piano this side of Les Dawson. It's the alternative universe version of Michelle Pfeiffer in The Fabulous Baker Boys that's more in line with the 'Orgy Porgy' EP (reviewed on the Devil's blog back in April this year 'Get Your Best Black Dress On We're Going To...').
Heisenflei and Maurice Robert are going from strength to strength and, following favourable reviews and a Radar article in the NME, are building up a head of steam in the UK. Will this be the EP that helps them to explode, possibly not, but it's another stepping stone on the way to DIY indie noise world domination.
