Zion I (pronounced Zion Eye) are a hip hop duo from Oakland, California. The duo consists of producer and DJ AmpLive and MC Zumbi. The two are highly respected and acclaimed underground artists, famous for Amp's futuristic production techniques, using a mix of live instrumentation and samples, and Zumbi's poetic, positive and socially conscious lyrics.

The duo will release their new full-length 'The Takeover' early next year. But before the fanfare for their official return, emcee Zumbi and producer extraordinaire AmpLive will offer up 'The Search and The Seizure' mixtape, a duel-sided collection of covers and remixes to whet appetites.

The A-side is set to be loaded down with hip hop covers and remixes including their take on the Public Enemy classic 'Rebel Without A Pause' and 'Gotsta Chill' featuring Talib Kweli, a radical reworking of their own little gem 'Temperature'

The B-side is chock full of indie rock and electro tunes including the Santogold 'Starstruck' sampling remix of another Zion I standout 'One'.

'The Search and The Seizure' will be available in a limited run cassette format, but if you’re not lucky enough to get your hands on it don't fret there's a couple of tracks courtesy of the Devil to tide you over until both sides hit the web next month.
