The Story Of The Hare And The...
Esiotrot
Genre: Folk Rock / Indie / Powerpop
From: London, United Kingdom
With a name taken from the title of a Roald Dahl novel that spells tortoise backwards Kent seven piece Esiotrot perfectly capture Dahl's wierd and wonderful pythonesque sense of fun.
The band have received quite a bit of attention from the Devil's fellow bloggers but I've only just got round to listening to them thanks to my good friend Woon of Filthy Little Angels.
The band's sound is difficult to categorise with any degree of accuracy. They don't really fit into a specific genre or scene. They are outsiders who deliver charming and occasionally energetic indie pop with a folky spin that doffs a cat's hat in the direction of Los Campesinos, Hefner, Belle and Sebastian and Jens Lekman. Despite songs about their girlfriend's love of the Beach Boys and dancing to My Chemical Romance they're just the right side of cute.
Filthy Little Angels have just released a split 7" joining Esiotrot and Norwich's acoustic popsters Tiger MCs which comes highly recommended from this litle devil and will set you back just 5 of our English pounds. With 6 tracks from 2 excellent bands that's gotta be good value in these post credit crunch days.
