There's more of the Bierkeller, The Cavern and Eric's about The Valkerys than Postcard Records and The Sound Of Young Scotland. They eschew the trendy scallydelica of the Zutons and the Coral preferring to keep it real with the more trad scouse sound of The Las, the Beatles and even the odd hint of Echo & The Bunnymen. If I didn't know better I'd swear that the bands new single 'Candy Girl' (Diffusion Records), planned for release at the end of November, is actually a secret release by Ian McCulloch fronting the Las and it doesn't come much more scouse, or better for that matter, than that.
