A couple of years ago New Cross in London was a thriving hotbed of angular indie spawning the influential Angular Recording Corporation and bands including The Long Blondes, Art Brut, Bloc Party, Klaxons and These New Puritans. While the eyes of the world moved on to pastures new the New Cross indie production line just carried on it's relentless process with Cops On The Edge just the latest in a long line of great bands that include My Tiger My Timing (see the Devil's post A Roaring Success ), Fig Leaves (see the Devil's post Adam & Eve's Favourite Band) and Autocolt (coming soon to the Devil's blog).


Cop On The Edge are poppy, acerbic, witty and as English as Dixon of Dock Green (see what I did there, impressive eh?). The critics have been throwing names like Talking Heads, Devo and Fatima Mansions at the band none of which really stick. The name that I'd fling in their direction is Young Knives which still won't stick but is likely to leave a pretty impressive bruise.
