New Monolators Album

The Monolators
Genre: Punk / Psychedelic / Indie
From: Los Angeles, California, United States

The Monolators With the addition of bassist Ashley Jex and lead guitarist Tom Bogdon, Devil's favourites The Monolator's have expanded into a full quartet for the release of their third album 'Don't Dance'. Has this changed the Monolators trademark blend of 50's rock 'n roll, 60's garage pop and 70's new wave punk that we've grown to love? Thankfully no, the album, which is due for release in October, is as adorably offbeat as usual.

From the lovelorn Jonathan Richman on steroids 'I Heard Her Calling From Another Room' to the Kafkaesque tale of a robot in love with a human being 'CA3A569' via Eli's tale of youthful rejection in 'Oh No Everything Has Changed' , 'Don't Dance' takes a trip through the lonely world of unrequited love. But don't think it's depressing, far from it, Eli's wistful reminiscing of his youthful disappointments is shot through with his trademark wry humour and a refreshing lack of self importance.

But it's not all cathartic masochistic self deprecation. Eli's lyrics cover everything from airplane wine, gum cigarettes and waiting for an elevator.
Title track 'Don't Dance' is a reprimand to the too cool to dance brigade in Silverlake while I'm not entirely sure what 'I Keep Knocking' is about, but it'd be great if it was about Knock and Run that game we played when we were kids where you'd knock on the door and run away.

Will this be the album to finally break the Monolators into the mainstream, could this be their White Blood Cells? I hope so as if there is any band on the planet that deserves to be heard across the globe it's the Monolators.

The album is scheduled to be released on October 21st so place a ring around that date on your calendar and get some Monolator's into your life.

Yes. You are exactly right, 'I Keep Knocking' is EXACTLY about knocking and running. Or something.

Love,

I personally like the remix versions "I keep schlocking" and "I Keep Mocking" :)
