Be Careful Or They'll Explode...

Cut The Blue WireCut The Blue Wire
Genre: Post punk / Electro / Pop
From: Portsmouth, United Kingdom

Try googling Portsmouth bands and all that you'll get are Cranes, Ricky (no me neither but they were apparently only the second band from Portsmouth to have a top 40 hit!), The Portsmouth Citadel Band Of The Salvation Army and The Band Of HM Royal Marines Portsmouth. Further research (ok a check on Wikipedia) uncovers that Roland Orzabal (Tears For Fears), Roger Hodgson (Supertramp) and Brian Howe (Bad Company) were born in Portsmouth and, Joe Jackson was brought up there! So we're not exactly talking Seattle, Liverpool, Manchester or Leeds here.

However Portsmouth's period in the musical doldrums could be about to come to an end with the exciting Cut The Blue Wire. Formed just over 12 months ago in the Spring of 2007 CTBW's 5 track demo 'We are Wolves, We are not Loved' was well received with airplay from Huw Stephens of Radio 1 and coverage in Rock Sound and The Fly and being tipped by Martha Shandur from XFM.

With their ultra-intense, pedal to the metal post hardcore sound poised somewhere between the raw power of At The Drive In, the nu metal brutality of Deftones and Papa Roach and the raw emotional intensity of the most visceral bands on the Dischord roster such as Fugazi and Nation of Ulysses, CTBW are a band with destiny in their blood.

With their first digital single, Everest (and no they haven't peaked yet!) released in May on Alcopop! Records and a second release due out any time soon CTBW are on the spearheading Portsmouths assault on the music industry.

Play up Pompey Play up, your time may just be nigh.
