According to her informative website Swedish born Salme Dhahlstrom shares the Devil's star sign. Like me she is a Taurean which means, if you believe in astrology, that she is patient, reliable, warmhearted and loving but can also be jealous and possessive, resentful, inflexible and persistent.

It would be really neat to follow this with "and this is reflected in her music" but unfortunately it isn't as clear cut as that! Although the beats on her new, self-written and self-produced, album 'The Acid Cowgirl Audio Trade' are certainly persistant she demonstrates a flexibility that would impress a 14 year old Russian gymnast. Her pure in your face poptronica throbs like the heart of a lover spurned incorporating vintage horns ('C'mon You All'), hill-billy guitars (G.L.S.) and funked up guitars (most tracks!).

The album is a pure adrenaline shot of pumped up beats as vibrant as a high definition rainbow after an electrical storm. It's a hi-nrg voyage from the shores of Madonna to the temples of Fatboy Slim via the electroclash of Felix Da Housecat that manages to insult the religious ('G.L.S.'), just miss out on becoming the theme tune to Joey ('Hello California') and get the creative juices flowing for the Australian Big Brother inmates (the Garbagesque 'Superstar Car Crash' - see video below for the Aussie Big Brother's attempts to lip sync to the track probably the best thing to come out of the BB franchise, ever).

If you like good time up-beat electro-pop that pummels your brain into submission and get's your feet twitching then Salme's the girl for you.
