Alamo Race Track born in Amsterdam seven years ago when a band called Redivider (not to be confused with the San Franciscan Electronica Grunge band of the same name, Redivider ) lost their keyboard player. One name change later and Alamo Race Track were unleashed on an unsuspecting world.
Quirkily eclectic shot through with a true punkish spirit yet not afraid to soften the edges ART are a blizzard of scorching guitars, interesting and unexpected arrangements and smart lyrics. On their new album 'Black Cat John Brown' they channel the spirit of Pixies like some kind of post punk mystic, at other times they're digging around in Neil Young kitbag pulling out fragile, fragmented melodies like Sparklehorse on downers. In many ways they are reminiscent of Benelux neighbours dEUS without the wilfully obtuse streak. The album has something for everyone from down and dirty pure rock ('The Northern Territory') to pure whiteman blues ('Black Cat John Brown' ) with even some John Barry moments ('On The Beach') thrown in for good measure.
