Every Dog Has It's Day...
A few weeks ago I received a vinyl EP from Swedish post punkers Dogday (not to be confused by the completely different though identically titled Canadian popsters Dog Day) which has lain on the dining table staring forlornly at me every time I had something to eat. Well with a couple of days of work to look forward to I decided to finally crank up the record player and take a listen.
Combining monochromatic angst, jagged melodies and taut measured rhythms with the catchiness of a fisherman with a bloody big hook The 'AM/PM EP' is an impressively staccato stab of post punk that has one foot in the early 80s industrial miserabilism of The Chameleons, The Sound and The Comsat Angels with the other firmly in the alt rock of Bloc Party and Editors.
