It's been a long hard week in work so what better way to celebrate a couple of days recuperation in the company of those eclectic, enchanting meisters of alt rock These New Puritans.

Unfortunately as they're over in the US of A and I'm stuck in dear old blighty I'll have to make do with night in with a copy of their recent stylish and ambitious album 'Beat Pyramid" . You lucky lucky Yankies.

Like British Sea Power, These New Puritans are on a mission to explore themes rarely covered in rock. On 'Beat Pyramid' there are tracks about medieval numerology ('Numbers'), a celebration of the melting of the polar ice-caps ('Infinitytinifni') which probably means they can count Al Gore out as a fan, and the terrorist cell linked with the kidnap of BBC journalist Alan Johnson.

Fresh from rave review for their appearances at SxSW These New Puritans are set to plant the British alt rock flag firmly in US soil.
