Clean Up With...
If, like me, your first thought on encountering the Pristines was that they sound like a Sarah Records houseband you wouldn't be far from the truth. The band formed 15 years ago (yes I know that the Devil has come a little late to the party but you know the saying better late than never!) and took their names from one of Sarah's best acts The Sea Urchins 'Pristine Christine'.
Unsurprisingly The Pristines wouldn't sound out of place on a Sarahs Records compilation having honed their jangling and frequently witty pysch pop over the past 15 years. There are the obvious The Field Mice, St Christopher , The Sea Urchins comparisons but, unlike many of the Sarah Records bands, they lace their jangly psych pop with a wicked sense of humour that reminds me of Half Man Half Biscuit at their sharpest.
