Light Up Your Life With...

Johnny NeonJohnny Neon
Genre: Electro / Indie / Powerpop
From: Johannesburg, South Africa

South African synth pop terrorists Johnny Neon started life as a one man and his bedroom experimental artist. Then along came the improbably named Funk Punk Ben with a lorry load of skinny jeans, an opticians supply of the coolest shades and a job lot of analog synthesisers and drum machines and Johnny Neon were ready to venture out of the bedroom and transform the world with their "future hybrid of art wave electro-sex deathpop".

Influenced by the electro rock of The Faint and the glam of David Bowie Johnny Neon's effervescent new romantic electro glam rock is the missing link between Soft Cell, Spandau Ballet and Ladytron.

On the 15th of March, Johnny Neon launched their first music video for the, as yet unreleased, "Heart Attack". In the Devil's view the quality of videos deteriorates the more money that's spent on them and I offer the "Heart Attack" video as evidence my'lud. Shot by friends, edited by the band and animated by close friend Matthew McFarlane the video is a homage to 80s computer generated graphics as well as the blue screen music videos from that period.

The duo are currently working material for their first full length album, a self-titled CD/DVD package that is planned for release in the next couple of months. It's one to watch out for.
