Short Cuts...

Scissors

There are only so many days in the week and, with the Devil spending a couple of nights a week away from home, I've not been able to bring you as many new bands as you deserve. So in an attempt to make up for lost time, and to clear a bit of a backlog, todays post brings you a short introduction to three very different bands for you to check out.

First up...

Middle Class RutMiddle Class Rut
Genre: Rock / Indie / Alternative
From: Sacramento, California United States

Middle Class Rut deliver a visceral brand of rock that ploughs a furrow somewhere between grunge and punk (grunk?) that has echoes of the ferocious rock of Janes Addiction the hardcore punk of Refused, the nihilistic nu metal of early Papa Roach and the the pounding rhythms of Rage Against The Machine.

Wild Sweet OrangeWild Sweet Orange
Genre: Rock
From: Birmingham, Alabama, United States

Lead by the incredibly named Preston Lovinggood (the register in school must have a been a scream!) Wild Sweet Orange are equal parts Coldplay, before they became a self satisfied pastiche of themselves, The Broken West and Drive-By Truckers. Hauntingly introspective yet emotionally exhilirating Wild Sweet Orange are as close as you'll ever get to intimate stadium rock.

and bringing up the rear...

what laura says thinks and feels
Genre: Indie / Roots Music
From: Tempe, Arizona United States

If you've been thinking that music these days is far too safe, too anaesthetised, too corporate then what laura says thinks and feels could be the band you've been waiting for. WLSTAF's multi-layered intelligent pop harks back to an era when pop and experimental were not mutually exclusive, an era when The Beatles and The Beach Boys could top the charts with progressive, radical pop that tugged at the heart and the mind. And they're unsigned, someone snap them up quick before they explode.
