Question Everything...

Why?Why?
Genre: Indie / Folk / New Wave
From: Oakland, California United States

California's Why? (not to be confused with the 1990s British Christian Folk band of the same name) formed by cLOUDDEAD's Yoni Wolf with his brother Josiah Wolf and Doug McDiarmid have just released 'Alopecia', their hair raising third album of lo-fi experimental indie hip-hop folk.

'Alopecia' is like a hyperactive kid after a Tartazine overdose. It never sits still long enough to be categorised. One moment it sounds like a frankenstein mash up of
Iron and Wine, Zwan and Eminem the next minute it's tripping like Tricky, the next time you look it's an indie rock take on Massive Attack.

Why? is a bloody good question. Why are there so many bands that are satisfied to be little more than musical photocopiers? Why can't originality be commercial? Why play it safe? Why not experiment?

Why? is a refreshing blast of originality in an increasingly homogenised world of clone bands and facsimile music.
