Pray They're Not Doctors...

Die Die DieDie! Die! Die!
Genre: Punk / Punk / Blues
From: Dunedin, New Zealand

Hailing from the remote area of Dunedin, New Zealand, abrasive noiseniks Die! Die! Die! smash the spirit and sounds of Black Flag, Wipers, The Jesus Lizard, Wire, and fellow Kiwis, Bailter Space into a snottily confrontational post-punk din.

Following the release of their Steve Albini produced debut album the trio have toured relentlessly securing support slots with, amongst others, The Blood Brothers, Wire, Slint and Wolfmother. Their punishing schedule has brought their visceral garage punk to a worldwide audience (they'll be at this years SXSW and will be heading for the UK in April this year) and new album 'Promises Promises', which will be released in the US February 12th, will no doubt cement their reputation as one of the worlds most promising newcore acts and maybe catapult them into the consciousness of the mainstream.

Where is that Wire track from? It's definitely not from Pink Flag or the live album that was released in 1979.

It doesn't sound recent either, especially since they very rarely play any of the older material these days. Is it from the 80's, perhaps?

By the way, it's 12 X U, not Want to Ex You.

Nice to see Wire getting attention, but I'd hate for people to think that they sounded like that on Pink Flag.

Nick,

According to the Wire site pinkflag.com it's from Recycling Sherwood Forest and is called both Want to Ex-You and/or 12XU. I've googled Recycling Sherwood Forest but, apart from a lot of eco sites about green issues in Nottingham, can't find much on the album. Hope you have more joy.

I did a piece on Die! Die! Die! over at my blog / podcast: Have You Heard

We were able to record a whole performance at Atlanta, GA's The Earl. The show happened yesterday. If you want, you can repost some of the tracks as long as you link back to haveyouheard.net
