Hush It's...

Please Quiet Ourselves
Genre: Indie / Pop
From: Berkeley, California, United States

Grammatically incorrect and shockingly youthful Berkeley collective, Please Quiet Ourselves, grew out of a soundtrack that Jojo Brandel created for a school film project. Experimenting with snatches of noise rock and pieces from the Black Orpheus soundtrack Brandel created 'Color Chart', a short pop song that he liked so much he created a band from a motley collection of his school friends.

Please Quiet Ourselves are a messy indisciplined joy. Their swaggering, shambolic lo-fi snow flurry of infectious hooks, mesmerising melodies and irresistable riffs is a fusion of Pavement , Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene and New Zealands finest exponents of lo-fi art pop Tall Dwarfs.

PQO songs may appear amateurishly produced, the guitars may not be perfectly tuned, the vocals may be slightly off-key but in a bland Tescopolised, computer enhanced world that's what makes them stand out from the crowd. An acquired taste, possibly, but one that's well worth acquiring.
