Hello, Blue Roses
Hello, Blue Roses
Genre: Indie
From: Vancouver, B.C Canada
Hello,Blue Roses is a Canadian indie supergroup (oh ok super duo) formed by Dan Bejar (Destroyer, Swan Lake, and The New Pornographers) and Sydney Vermont (Bonaparte). Their music is an intriguing and incomparable fusion of the 80s Adult Oriented Pop of Prefab Sprout, Kate Bush and Everything But The Girl and the Aquarian-age pastoral hey-nonny-nonny electric folk of Steeleye Span, Pentangle, and Fairport Convention. Yes it sounds like car crash music and a recipe for self indulgent but Dan and Syd pull it off magnificently. Hello, Blue Roses however are no mere revivalists, this is rootsy music that is so fresh it should come with a Soil Association certificate.
Hello, Blue Roses’ debut album is due to be released on January 22, 2008. If you can't wait that long then you can sample exclusive Hello, Blue Roses tracks on a tour-only split 7” with Frog Eyes due out on Absolutely Kosher in December and a split 7” with fellow new folksters and Locust Music act,Mancunians, Starless & Bible Black which is due for release around the turn of the year.
