epo-555 - The Drugs Do Work

epo-555
Genre: Alternative / Electronica / Pop
From: Copenhagen, United States

Danish band epo-555 have been around for about five years. Formed by Mikkel Max Hansen and the impressively monickered Sir Ebbe Frej they have since grown into a fully fledged four piece band adding "Fine" Tine Winther and Hans Emil Machine along the way. The band claim to be influenced by shoegazing bands such as My Bloody Valentine, Ride and Chapterhouse, and they do have that dreamy, slightly distorted shimmering guitar that symbolises the best of the shoegazers. But this is not pure unadulterated shoegaze. On their latest album, 'Mafia' (out now on Danish label Crunchy Frog), epo-555 can't hide their electro noise-pop ambitions and their fuzzy electronic tunes remind me more of 80s indie pop rock revivalists The Killers and Stellastarr* than their shoegazing ancestors. Epo-555 is the safest drug on the planet, try some today and feel the bliss.
