Boston's Junius (apparently an enigmatic letter-writing historical footnote and political critic from the 1700's, what would we do without Wikipedia?) wear their brooding quasi goth eighties heart of darkness on their, predictably perhaps, black sleeves, whilst skillfully conjuring something that sounds fresh out the box. The vocals drizzles onto a nouvelle cuisine platter of reverberating guitars and a pounding backbeat reminiscent of Pornography-era Cure, with the militaristic crunch of Spear of Destiny , the hypnotic theatricality of Killing joke and the moodiness of Placebo.

The band is, as you read this, putting the finishing touches on its debut album, reportedly based on the life of controversial scholar Immanuel Velikovsky.
