Jeremy Say Quiet Is The New Loud

JeremyJeremy
Genre: Powerpop / Folk / Rock
From: Stavanger, Norway

As Jeremy, Norwegian duo Mikaell Olsson(Bass) and Jørgen Helliesen (Drums), offer up subtle, acoustic, quiet music that is rarely fashionable but never seems to go out of style. Take some Simon & Garfunkel, add some melancholy a la fellow Norwegians Kings of Convenience, some of the laid back indie jazz of the first Everything But The Girl album (or Tracey Thorn first band The Marine Girls) and throw in a little Young Marble Giants and you have a pretty good idea what Jeremy sound like.

This is music that minds it's own business, won't upset your parents, and certainly won't soundtrack the revolution. This is music for lazy rainy Sunday mornings in front of the fire with a mug of tea and a Hovis digestive. As the pace of modern life increases there is a place in everyone's music collection for music that you can wallow in, that doesn't shout to be heard, that concentrates on the quality of the song rather than how loud the sound.

So is quiet the new loud? Who knows and, frankly, who cares? I for one am glad of Jeremy's brief peaceful interlude from the hurly burly of the world outside my window, and I'm sure you will be too.
