The Colt 45s & The Star Fighter Pilot Split Single

The Colt 45sThe Colt 45s
Genre: Electro / Punk / New Wave
From: Durham, United Kingdom

The fabulous Colt 45s (check out July's Colt 45s - More From Filthy Little Angels) are set to release their debut single at the end of September on Leaving Home Records. The single will be exclusively on 7" vinyl and will set you back the measly sum of 4 English Pound including UK delivery. The single includes two tracks by The Star Fighter Pilot (see below).

For the procrastinators out there who can't quite decide whether to brake into a fiver the band have helpfully uploaded the tracks from the single to their MySpace site so you can try before you buy. Obviously the tracks can't be downloaded, but you can pre-order the single for the site. If you want to hear more from the band the Devil has included one of their older tracks for you to download below.

and the Colt 45's co-conspirator on their debut release is...

The Star Fighter Pilot
Genre: Electronica / Alternative / Indie
From: Manchester, United Kingdom

The Star Fighter Pilot, who is better known to his family and friends as multi-talented Mancunian musician Martin Bryant, is the Colt 45's partner in crime on their debut release. In many ways a natural choice as the two are natural bedfellows. Both have a fine line in lo-fi electro pop but where the Colt 45s deliver their electro with a snarl and a curled lip The Star Fighter Pilot electro is more likely to be accompanied by a slacker shrug and a political sermon. Bryant's early EP's have garnered a lot of favourable press from the critics with 2006's Alkaline Maisonette EP getting a mighty 8/10 from Drowned In Sound and an even mightier 5/5 from High Voltage and the two tracks he contributes to the split single are even better. Falling somewhere on an axis that includes Birdpen, Swimmer One, Kraftwerk, Squarepusher, Thomas Dolby and fellow Mancunians Jim Noir and New Order, The Star Fighter Pilot could be set to follow previous Filthy Little Angels discoveries The Long Blondes into the hearts of a grateful nation.

The second track by Dolby is called "Pulp Culture" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aliens_Ate_My_Buick)
btw. love the cover of that record, especially the inner sleeve, where Dolby is in the role of the screaming damsel in distress...
Ah, good ol' vinyl days
