Lucy & The Caterpillar Introduce Fop Music

Lucy & The CaterpillarLucy & The Caterpillar

Genre: Electro / Comedy / Grindcore
From: United Kingdom

From what I can gather Lucy is an 18 year old female solo artist without a Lepidoptera in sight, although admittedly I've never seen her live so I could be wrong. Also the description of her music as Electro comedy grindcore is about the most misleading description I've come across. Like Vashti Bunyan covering Phoebe Buffay's Smelly Cat or the acoustic offspring of an IVF experiment involving Joanna Newsom and Lily Allen, Lucy's brand of perky, chirpy, slightly fey, acoustic folkpop (fop music??) is an acquired taste a bit like a Starbucks Cheese and Marmite Panini (which incidentally is the only Panini that this devil likes). With Lucy and her tubular insect friend there'll be no middle ground, you'll either love her (which I do) or hate her (go to this cowandfield.com and search for caterpillar for a rather vicipous and hugely unfair review).

Lucy and her herbivorous insect pal have certainly been putting themselves about a bit having played live with Scott Matthews , Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly, Simple Kid, Curtis Eller, Jeremy Walmsley, as well as on-air for XFM London and XFM Manchester, BBC 6, BBC Manchester and Revolution FM. If Lucy works that Caterpillar any harder the RSPCA will be involved.
