I'm Back

The Devil's Back The past week has been hectic leaving little time for the Devil to even turn the PC on let alone post any paeons of purple prose. Well don't fret the Devil's back, for a couple of days at least, and you can expect a bumper crop of bands, reviews and news starting with...

The New Royal Family The New Royal Family
Genre: Pop /Punk
From: London, United Kingdom

If you're looking for the pop equivalent of a treatise on the malaise currently afflicting Britains inner cities and a host of recommendations on how to improve the lot of the common man then this ain't the band for you. If however you want your head filled with joyously loopy, semi whimsical, child-like pop by a band that don't take themselves too seriously then The New Royal Family (check out the Devil's Blog Riled Nobility) could be the band for you. The indie supergroup that includes the alumni of bands such as Gay Dad, Luxembourg, The Boyfriends , Scarlets Well, Spy 51, Linus, The Low Edges and Salad have been described by The Radio Times as "brazen British stupidity" which they no doubt take as a huge compliment.

Like their forefathers Half Man Half Biscuit and The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band and their country cousins Art Brut, The New Royal Family, who are like The Sex Pistols as imagined by the fevered minds of Monty Python, fall just the right side of indie joke band. The band are about to release their debut single the intellectually unchallenging, lyrically limited yet infectiously mischievous "Anyone Fancy A Chocolate Digestive" on Filthy Little Angels. The single, which will be a split 7" with Keith TOTP has already received Radio exposure in the UK and is accompanied by an amusing video (see below). This won't change your life but it just may leave you with a silly grin on your face for a week.
