Odds and Sods and Bits and Bobs
The Devil is on his travels again, off to Denver for a couple of days, and therefore there may be a slight lull in postings. So, as a special going away treat a bumper harvest of odds, sods and nice to haves starting with ...
Little Man Tate
Genre: Indie / Rock
From: Yorkshire, United Kingdom
They have been described by Mojo as the new Arctic Monkeys, are they having a laugh or what? Little Man Tate eschew (saw that word in a book I read in a bookshop and have been waiting for a chance to use it!) such comparison with their fellow tykes. Ok there is liberal use of a northern accent (what do you expect they're from Yorkshire and people in Yorkshire have Yorkshire accents!) and a lyrical obsession with ordinary life in a hum drum town, but LMT could equally be called the new Pulp, Blur, Jam or even Smiths. They have amassed a sizeable, fanatical following and have scraped the lower fringes of the British charts with their last single ‘House party at Boothys’ so this is a band circling the big time. They have just released their debut album "About What You Know" and, as a special taster, the Devil has a couple of demos for you to download. But promise me that you'll then go and buy the album because if you don't then I'll be coming after your soul.

Another Yorkshire band on the verge of great things. Black Wire have even had a favourable review in the English newspaper the Daily Mail (not sure how much that does for your punk credibility guys!). One of their gigs was the inspiraton for the Kaiser Chief's classic "I Predict A Riot" (now that's more like it, punk credibility restored to equilibrium). If you like your indie to walk on the wild side, if you like your punk to be nihilistically dissonant (more words I read in a bookshop that I've been itching to use), if you like music that picks at the scabs on your arm till you bleed then Black Wire are waiting for you. The next Black Wire next gig is at ULU in London on 9th March, so if you're around the London area and are looking for some thrills, spills and, who knows maybe some pills, then that'll be the place to be.

and the last of tonights bits and bobs news of two artists who are not from Yorkshire (although they may have relatives there if it helps)...
Dexy
Genre: Alternative / Indie / Country
From :Lewisham, London and South East United Kingdom

Open Mouth
Genre: Alternative / Acoustic / Rock
From: Bury St Edmunds/London
Now minus his Midnight Runners (ok not the best joke but it's getting late and it's as good as your gonna get), Dexy, who looks like the missing link between Matt Bellamy (Muse) and Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys again!!), has been peddling his brand of twisted alt-pop songs for just over a year and he's just about to release his debut single 'Waiting For An Accident/Asleep In Your Attic' Angry Liberal Records. It is available on a strictly ltd edition 7" vinyl but the digitally minded amongst you should fret not as inside the record is a little message which reveals how those who've bought the vinyl can get it on mp3 as well. On the other side of the single you can find 2 tracks 'Castle Keep' and '327' by labelmate, and Aztec Camera/Roddy Frame soundalike, Open Mouth . All this for only three of your English poundage. For those of you who aren't currencially literate that amounts to little short of a bargain. If you are suitably intrigued and have £3 to spare then you can place an order at R*E*P*E*A*T .

Well that's it for a couple of days. I hope that this bumbper corncucopia of melodic mayhem will keep you occupied and interested for a few days. See you again very soon.
