The Creyola Thief Genius

The Creyola Thief Genius
Genre: Heart and Soul Music

From: Ipswich, Suffolk, United Kingdom

No it is not a mispelling that is how they spell it. Joel Kurta and Jo Surzyn from Charlie Brown (who are now called Making Eyes At Elvis - do they have attention deficit disorder or what? I blame Sunny Delight) are in this East Angian four-piece who place a heavier emphasis on the guitar in contract to Charlie Brown's more keyboard driven approach. Listening to the tracks on their myspace site I'm reminded of early 80s angular political post punk popstrels The Au Pairs if they'd married Muse and gone on to have 2.5 children and a mock georgian Barratt House in Essex. These thieving geniuses (or is it genii - not even the dictioneries seem to know for sure - the English language eh? Don't you just love it) have just enough chutzpah, youthful exuberance and enthusiasm to plough their own furrow in the increasingly homogenized (or is it homogenised? let's not go there again eh?) corporate music business where ads for a marketing manager are placed before ads for a bassist who must be into Sonic Youth and have his own van. This is not music that has been created in an air conditioned meeting rooms and tested on a representative focus group before being released in 7 different limited edition formats. This is music created by people who just have an uncontrollable love for making music and want to create something to please themselves. This is heart and soul music. But don't just take my word for it listen for yourself and make your own mind up.
